Skate Ski Clinic with Quinn Lehmkuhl
For those of us who have been skiing here since 1999, Tahoe XC is like a family. A group of people who love being out there and skiing together almost every day. Quinn Lehmkuhl has been a part of that family since she was born. Her parents are excellent skiers who have been Strider Glider coaches for more than a decade, and she and her sister Kili started out as youngsters in Strider Gliders (I remember both of them as awesome members of the Strider Glider Red Team). They both went on to race very successfully at North Tahoe High School and at the Junior National level.
Collegiate Competition Brings Added Insight to Coaching
After high school, Quinn went off to race for four years at University of Colorado, Boulder, one of the best cross-country ski programs in the US. Now, Quinn has returned home to pass on all that she has learned as coach of the Tahoe XC Devo Team as well as the North Tahoe Middle School XC team.
Elio Adriani has dramatically improved his skiing ability under Quinn’s tutelage. “She has been an amazing coach for our son,” said Elio’s mom Alisa Adriani. “She not only motivates him and makes skiing fun, but she has the ability to teach him the fine details of Nordic skiing so he can take his skiing to the next level. Her years skiing at a competitive level are really apparent! I take private lessons from her for myself and my daughter so that I can try to catch my son.”
While skiing with kids is fun, Quinn decided she would also like to pass along some tips to adults in her skate ski clinic. The clinic will be geared towards advanced beginners or intermediate level skiers who want to improve their skiing.
Quinn Racing in College
Quinn says that “we will do some drills to work on technique and balance to help the women become more efficient skiers.” But she says there also will be plenty of time to work on the individual needs of the women and of course they will get to do a lot of great skiing with some new friends.
While the Skate Clinics are no longer available, Quinn is available for private lessons throughout the winter season, please call us to book.
