Every time they head out to ski Tahoe Cross Country clientele get to witness the hard work of the staff in the lodge and the groomers out on the trails. But many out enjoying the Tahoe XC trails may not be aware of the behind the scenes importance of the Tahoe Cross-Country Board of Directors: The group of volunteers puts in the time to look at the big picture and guide the ski area into the future.

Since 2017 the Kevin Murnane Scholarship has distributed $11,000 to North Tahoe High School seniors. These students have all had a close connection to our cross-country ski community and we are proud that contributions made in honor of Kevin have helped these students take a step towards reaching their life goals.

Tahoe’s cross-country skiing community is small, but mighty. Recently it produced two athletes that headed off to the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing: Hannah Halvorsen and JC Schoonmaker. Hannah grew up in Truckee, while JC is from Tahoe City (as were four generations behind him). They were both trained by a chain of local coaches, and heartily cheered on by the entire nordic community when they reached the big stage.
