Due to late winter storms and lack of coverage, the Tahoe Rim Tour 2018 has been cancelled.
Presented by Far West Nordic Ski Education Association
This point-to-point 26 kilometer race begins at North Tahoe High School in Tahoe City, follows the Great Ski Race course up the Fiberboard Freeway over 7,700 foot Starratt Pass, then heads east along the Tahoe Rim before connecting into the trail system of Northstar Cross-Country. It is a challenging 26 kilometers with approximately 2000 feet of climbing, similar in difficulty to the Great Ski Race. After reaching the finish, participants celebrate their accomplishment at the post race party. Hot food, drinks, raffle prizes and more take place right at the finish area and buses will be waiting to take finishers back to Tahoe City.
The Tahoe Rim Tour is a major fundraiser for the Far West Nordic Ski Education Association’s Junior Ski Programs and welcomes three styles of participants: classic skiers, skate skiers and snowshoers. Classic ski race results count for points in the Fisher Cup Race Series (this is the only long classic race in the Far West division). Both classic and skate divisions qualify for the Sierra Ski Chase and the Masters Challenge. Every participant enjoys some of the most scenic sections of Tahoe trails with an aid station mid-way providing water, energy drinks and snacks to help fuel participants through to the finish.
Tahoe Cross-Country and Northstar donate their services and support to the incredible efforts of the Far West Nordic Ski Education Association’s Junior Ski Programs.
- Classic wave: 9:00am
- Skate wave: 9:30am
